Charles uses a variety of Corrective Exercise interventions and Manual Therapy techniques (mentioned above) in his sessions, tailoring them to each individual as appropriate to their needs and/or condition, to get the best results.
Corrective Exercise looks to improve strength, mobility, flexibility and function of specific areas of the body that are identified as requiring it. These exercises/stretches will be walked through and references provided to ensure that you have the tools to progress outside of the clinic.
Soft Tissue Therapy typically focusses on the muscular, tendinous and ligamental structures of the body, and involves very common and well known massage techniques applied with or without movement.
Osteopathic Articulation and Osteopathic Spinal Manipulation, focus more on the peripheral joints of the body and the spine, and involves the application of movement (articulation) to a joint, and if required manipulation of a joint using high velocity thrust.
Medical Acupuncture involves the insertion of single-use, ultra-fine sterile needles into the skin and muscle tissue, to stimulate the sensory nerves.
Kinesiology Taping (Rock Taping) involves the application of thin, elastic sports tape in specific way to specific areas of the body for injury rehabilitation, to reduce swelling and provide pain relief, correct muscle movement and posture, offer support during pregnancy, delay muscle fatigue and increase blood and lymphatic circulation.
All treatments and techniques will be discussed and agreed with you before they are applied.
Using a variety of techniques as a standalone treatment or combined with other therapies, Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy is proven to:

So, whether you're looking to improve your sporting performance, reduce the risk of / recover from injury, or simply to improve your health and wellbeing, Sports Massage is for you.
The initial session will last approximately 1 hour and will include a mandatory consultation, static and dynamic assessments (as appropriate) to ensure that we address your issues fully, that we are working safely and in your best interests. The treatments are always discussed with you before any type of therapy is applied and you're happy with the approach. Treatments can at times be uncomfortable during and afterwards, but Charles will communicate regularly throughout to ensure that he is working within your limits, and inform you of what to expect following a treatment. However, the effects are always subjective and depend largely on the issue being addressed and how long it has been evident.
Everyone is treated as an individual. Your treatment will be tailored to your specific needs and comfort level. If it is identified that this therapy is not appropriate or most beneficial to your needs or the issue in question, Charles will happily refer you to the right person or suggest the most appropriate treatment to pursue.
Follow-up sessions are available in 1hr or 30 minute blocks and will depend on what is most appropriate to your needs and goals.
